Blog #26 Art and the Artist Final Prewriting
1) As a child I was curious about music; I did ballet for a couple of years when I was young and it was always something that was present in my household growing up. I vividly remember my mom turning up Shania Twain in our basement while she worked out on our elliptical and my three younger siblings and I danced around and sang the words or at least what we believed were the words at the top of our lungs. In a way it became a tradition for us considering we did it just about every night, we would all go downstairs pick a CD to stick in the CD player (those ancient things were still used at the time), hit play and turn up the volume as loud as it would go. All of us were down there for a good hour so that my mom could get her workout in and then we all would race up the stairs to get dinner started and set the table.
2)Art is something that can be used to make a difference, it is something that can make a change. Art is something that gives people a voice and is a way for them to be acknowledged no matter the case. The artists role in society is to "speak" their mind, to have them break boundaries with their artwork. Their role is to create or start change or make some sort of impact on people whether it be an impact on one or one hundred people. We can effectively utilizae art to "talk" about things like culture and interactions iwith people.
3) Surface: Music
Shallow: Nonverbal communication, body language, patterns of handling emotions,
Deep: Notions of adolescence, preference for competition or cooperation, concept of "self"
